We Are Virginia Tech
Today marks 5 years since the mass shooting at Virginia Tech. I remember that fateful morning of April 16, 2007, like it was yesterday. The shootings happened at a time when graduating seniors were finishing up their classes, preparing for final exams, and thinking about the future that was waiting for them. Unfortunately for 32 students and faculty at Virginia Tech, that future would never come.
Everyone who was there that day takes away their own insight from this tragic event. Personally, I take today to remember those who were lost and to cherish the time that I have left on this earth. I want to live every day of my life with purpose and serve my community in honor of those who were lost. Virginia Tech and its community has shaped the person I am today — and for that I thank them.
We are Virginia Tech. I will neVer forgeT.
